PLEDGES are being raised to secure our ability to purchase the Hermann’s Jazz Club building and insure that the club will always have a home.
We are not in a position, nor do we want to be in a position, where we receive donations that we have to return because we have not raised enough to proceed. The sooner we raise the pledges needed, the sooner we can make an offer, and time is of the essence.
Our goal is $3,000,000 – but as one happy, supportive patron said at our second meeting “That’s just 300 people pledging $10,000 each – I’m in!” and others followed…
Thank you for your consideration. You can pledge or make any inquiries through this secure site or contact us directly. Pledges are confidential unless you provide us permission to speak about them. John Donnelly, president of Donnelly Advisors Group has graciously volunteered to help people involved in this campaign with advice regarding charitable giving.
The fine print:
While not legally binding, a pledge is something to take very seriously as we will all be going forward in the expectation that all pledges will be honoured.
Pledges are a promise to contribute an amount of money toward the purchase of the building if certain conditions are met. These conditions are:
(1) that the total amount of pledges collected by the Jazz on View Society are, in the opinion of the society, adequate to allow the society to purchase the building; and
(2) that arrangements have been made for the donors to receive a charitable tax receipt for their gift.
When these conditions are met, we will notify those who have made pledges and ask that they provide the pledged funds within 30 days.
Pledges would be paid into a Lawyer’s trust account to be used for the purchase of the building.
To make a pledge you may fill in the form below OR to find out more about how these will work, contact Nichola Walkden (info@jazzonview.com) or Bill Turner(turnerwc@jazzonview.com).
Jazz On View Society’s charitable status is pending. In the event that we are not in the position to issue tax receipts when pledges are called we have named The National Trust for Land and Culture as a partner to this project.
Jazz On View Society is run 100% by volunteers. We have raised money through our event(s) to pay expenses: real estate and legal fees, charity registration, bank fees, printing, post and event expenses. This campaign is entirely directed to the acquisition. In the future Jazz On View’s charitable status can be used to further our broader mandate (About Jazz on View Society)
