The Jazz On View Society presents September at Hermann’s Jazz Club!

Still riding high on the enthusiasm of assuming the lease July 15th – the Jazz On View Society looks forward to a fantastic fall. Days get shorter, the evenings cooler and friends return to cozy in for good evenings and great shows.

There is a lot to share this month.

First to note is a shift in our showtimes, shows now begin at 7:30, unless noted, to end a little earlier for those that want a good night’s sleep.

Sunday Brunch Matinee Performances have been added to the roster. Doors at 12:30. Shows 1:30-3:30.

A family friendly event, with good food and toe-tapping music to entertain. Free for children, grand-children and great grand-children.

Cafe Scientifique returns to Tuesday evenings.

Hosted by the University of Victoria the Cafe’s are an informal series of talks, delivered by experts in the field, designed to engage the public in learning about recent research in science and to stimulate discussion around some of the most exciting topics in modern science. Tickets and info at:

And finally, a much deserved shout out to JoV board member William Stewart, who has been working hard in the wee hours between shows about the Club. We have stage improvements and great new sound system (a number of things that wobble less) thanks to his work. As well, he has updated much of our website.

https://hermannsjazz.com/gallery is a great place to start exploring, showing hundreds of photos and video of the history of Hermanns.

We also have a new Chef, Crystal (Cat) Mattinson. She has also done an unbelievable amount of work this past month (unbelievable!). The View Street Social is now open for food service at 11:30am.

I already said and finally – but – honestly I could thank hundreds of people. Joan Looy, you think your a bother when I’m busy, but I couldn’t have survived August without you. Thank you. People – suppliers, plumbers, electricians, contractors, the City of Victoria, the DVBA and Tourism Victoria, our board and staff, have been wonderful to work with – the amount of enthusiastic, genuine and generous support received is just further testimony of how much Hermann’s is loved.

I am so happy to be back. Thank you.
