Thanks to your generous outpouring of support we have saved Hermann’s Jazz Club!
Arts On View Society (Jazz on View) is now finalizing hundreds of details to begin operating Hermann’s and the View Street Social Club next door, with a five-year lease, and on solid financial ground.
We are working hard to have the five-year lease signed, equipment upgraded, improvements planned, and all operations and licences transferred from the current owners (Hermann Nieweler’s three children) by July 15.
The volunteer board is working with the wonderful staff at Hermann’s to obtain required permits for the Club’s continued operations. Liquor licences alone take eight- to nine-weeks to be approved.
Meanwhile, we are building a budget and plan for improvements.
We remain committed to the big vision of transforming the entire building, including the upstairs, into the community-owned and operated “Arts On View” performing and visual arts centre. We are talking to the estate about the potential for a lease on the rest of the building.
Very importantly, we continue to explore ways to purchase the entire building to ensure long-term success and keep costs low for artists and patrons into the future. $8 million or more is needed for the big vision and an Arts Endowment.
A special thank to all of our donors for your generous financial support.
Those of you who have contributed $1,000 or more will soon receive a separate email outlining details of the Patrons Program and how to enjoy your patron’s tickets. (Which will start after we are the operator of Hermann’s.)
Arts On View is encouraged by the enthusiasm and support we continue to receive from you, the Hermann’s and jazz community.
Thanks to you, Hermann’s Jazz Club remains open – and its future looks bright.
See you at the Club!
