I’ve been going to Hermann’s since 2009 when I moved to Victoria. Hermann’s has been the only club in Victoria that consistently hosts out of town blues artists on an ongoing basis. That included a concert by my friend and Chicago blues harmonica artist Harmonica Hinds in 2010 that I have organized together with John Fisher and Sharon Wadsworth. But the list of blues artists I have heard at Hermann’s is long and impressive. Hermann’s is the classiest music venue in Victoria, the place is steeped in music history, whether it be jazz or blues and life in this beautiful city would not be the same without a classy music club like Hermann’s.

I hope that the government (municipal or provincial) will step up to the plate and support the effort to save this musical venue. Its not only the local that would loose, imagine the millions of visitors that come to Victoria every year and many of them are looking for something great to do in the evening and many of them undoubtedly are jazz and blues fans.
