To Hermann’s Jazz Club.
This is a letter of support for the continuance of Hermann’s.
My family has been going to Hermann’s for over 30 years. Attending Hermann’s is to step into a scene of culture and enjoyment. Children are welcome, so you can enjoy a musical experience with your entire family.
It is all about the jazz. All about the music. Small, intimate, elegant, quiet, comfortable environment for listening. Affordable.
Hermann’s has a global presence. Musicians all over the world contact Hermann’s because they love playing in this amazing place because people listen to the music. There are not many places like this left in the world, let alone in Canada. That is why we consider it to be a national treasure.
Young musicians are encouraged to play on stage for the first time at Hermann’s. High school jazz bands play here. The Tom Vickery Jazz Jam opens the stage for new talent. The trio who host this event are some of Canada’s best musicians. For a high school student to play with Sean Drabitt or Kelby MacNayr is a dream come true.
This jazz scene is the legacy of the late, great Hermann Nieweler who passed away in 2015. He is sorely missed, but his passion for jazz, and the ambiance of music, lives on.
We must come together to preserve this wonderful place and all the music that happens here.
The music must thrive and Hermann’s must survive.
