As a writer I currently host the website islandjazz.ca and in the past have contributed pieces on local, national and international musicians to various media, including Monday Magazine, Boulevard, Coda and Inside the Music, a national CBC radio program. Musicians covered have included everybody from Hugh Fraser, Phil Dwyer and Ingrid and Christine Jensen to jazz guitar great Pat Metheny. One thing has become obvious in the decade I’ve been covering the coastal BC jazz scene – Hermann’s is a national treasure revered by local, national and international musicians alike. There’s no place like it in Canada. It must be saved.
