Hermann’s Jazz Club is an important part of a chain of venues that allow jazz musicians in Canada to truly tour across the country. Without Hermann’s it is doubtful that a few of my groups would’ve performed in Victoria over the years, as there is simply no venue as committed to presenting music in a “listening” environment. Clubs like Hermann’s are rarely replaced when they close, and in many of Canada’s cities it is much more attractive to build new condos than to maintain a music venue in the heart of a city. I fully support any effort to keep Hermann’s going!
