I remember Herman back in mid 80s. I helped him start the jazz club at the old Bastion. We had many concerts there. I played with PJ aperry and others. Those were the good old days! Now I live in Courtenay and unfortunately there is only one venue having quality jazz, the Avalanche. Every Thursday night for most of the year there are great acts. I believe what works here is having a non-profit society running it. We have over 100 attend the concerts and the club is a beautiful, recently renovated room. I wish there was a venue like this in every city. Good luck Victoria!
